MKC Heroes in North Yorkshire

MKC Heroes is a unique national pupil voice initiative for the support of Service children and young people.

In North Yorkshire we have more than 40 schools who are active members of MKC Heroes.  Each school holds its' own regular meetings, usually weekly, which are led by the Heroes.  Meetings can be used to organise events for MKC Heroes in the school or just for a chat!

Two representatives from each MKC Hero school are then invited to a half termly Branch Meeting.  These meetings are chaired by MKC Heroes supported by a Service Pupils' Champion and follow a structured meeting plan.  The Branch meetings are a good opportunity for our Heroes to meet each other and compare what they are doing - each school gives an update on what has been happening for MKC Heroes at their school.  Future events are then discussed and planned, after that we have lots of fun!  MKC Heroes in North Yorkshire are active fundraisers for military charities, they take part in Armed Forces Day every year and in the Autumn term we celebrate the Heroes with a thanksgiving service at Ripon Cathedral which last year was attended by over 600 children from across the county.
